During the Econometric Career Days, there is plenty of opportunity to meet companies that work in one of the various fields of econometrics. There are many different activities giving you the opportunity to connect with a diverse range of companies.
The events during which you can meet potential employers are the following:
- Cases
A case is a perfect way to learn about a company’s work field and their company culture. You get to work on a representative company case thereby allowing you to learn more about the company and to apply your analytical skills to tackle a problem. Afterwards, there is either a lunch or drink included in a morning or afternoon case, respectively, where you get to talk to the employees and ask all your questions. Find out here which cases will take place during the ECD 2025.
- Presentations
During a presentation at the ECD, a company will describe their daily practices at their company to you. They will talk to you about interesting projects that they have worked on or are currently working on and explain the career opportunities. Find out here which presentations will take place during the ECD 2025.
- Interviews
This year you have the opportunity to do an interview with Optiver or DataStudent. Note that you will need to add your CV when submitting your application.
- Company and Branch dinner
This year, we have three company dinners and two branch dinners - a Finance dinner and a Consultancy dinner. The Finance dinner hosts Allianz and Van Lanschot Kempen, the Consultancy dinner hosts Argon&Co, Simon-Kucher and IG&H. The company dinners are with Deloitte, Sincerius and EY. Each dinner starts with a short presentation to introduce the companies and then will allow you to meet various employees in an informal setting. This gives you a chance to ask any questions you may have and to meet your potential future colleagues! Find out more about the dinners here.
- Informal Events
Last year we organised a variety of fun informal events where you get to meet companies through social activities in an informal setting in order to see if you are character wise a good fit for the company and whether their atmosphere matches yours. The informal activities this year consist of a wine tasting with Van Lanschot Kempen, beer tasting with Milliman, golf with DataStudent and a barista workshop with SKIM. It is a unique experience for you to have fun while networking and have the opportunity to get to know a company. Find out more about the informal events here.
- Field Trip
Every year, the ECD offers an exciting opportunity to witness econometrics in action through our Field Trip, where we explore how this powerful tool is used in unexpected fields. It is a chance to gain first-hand experience and see the impact of econometrics beyond traditional industries. Past attendees have found this event incredibly inspiring, so do not miss out!
This year, we are visiting the harbour of Rotterdam together with Maersk. Maersk is a global integrated logistics company and the world’s second largest container shipping line. Every day, they connect businesses and consumers across more than 130 countries, offering not only ocean transport but also inland logistics, warehousing, customs services, and digital supply chain solutions. Their goal is to simplify global trade and make supply chains more reliable, efficient, and sustainable. What makes Maersk unique is the combination of scale and innovation. With a fleet of over 700 vessels and a strong inland network, they move millions of containers every year. At the same time, they are leading the industry in digitalization and decarbonization, for example through the Gemini Cooperation network design and their first methanol-enabled vessels that reduce emissions. A field trip to Maersk in Rotterdam provides a chance to experience global trade up close. Rotterdam is Europe’s largest port and a vital hub in their network. Visitors will learn how they manage container flows, balance supply and demand, and adapt to global disruptions, all while working to make logistics greener and smarter.
- Impact Day
We want to iterate the kind of impact that you can make with your professional career. We offer a case, workshop and a drink to allow you to meet companies in which you can make an impact. The case is held by SiRM. The workshop is held by Erasmus Medical Center. And we have a special PhD drink together with the ESE. All-in-all, it is a unique opportunity to find how you can steer your career towards impact. Find out here which companies participate in the Impact Day 2025.
During the Econometric Career Days, there are certain events that are held in Dutch. This is the request of the company as they either only hire Dutch nationals or Dutch speaking employees. Therefore, the event is held in Dutch to attend to this fact. For Dutch events it will be clearly stated in the description that they will be held in Dutch. If you have any questions, feel free to send an email to info@ecdrotterdam.nl.
